FAITH MINISTRY GROUPS

FOREVER YOUNG SENIORS

  1. This senior citizen organization offers spiritual, educational and social activities for those ages 55 and older.  Meetings are the third Monday of the month, September – June (except January), in the Church Hall.

HOLY NAME SOCIETY

  1. Men are invited to join this Society to honor our Lord’s name through prayer and action.  Meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of every month from September through June except for Election Day Tuesday in November.  All meetings start at 7:00 p.m.

KNITTING MINISTRY

  1. The mission of this ministry is to provide a prayerful environment for individuals to share their love of knitting and/or crocheting and to reach out to those in need of comfort, solace and prayers.  The knitter and/or crocheter begins each prayer shawl/scarf/afghan with prayers and blessings for the recipient and when the creation is completed, it is blessed by the Priest before being presented to the recipient.  Baptismal blankets are also created for all children baptized here at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.  All creations are fee free and available to all who request them.  Meetings are Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the Legion Room.  New Knitters are always welcome.  Please contact Sr. Georgia at the Parish Office if interested.

                        Shawls…made for centuries, universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving God.  They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover and give solace, mother, hug shelter and beautify.  Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles.

LEGION OF MARY

  1. Men and women meet weekly on Mondays at 8:30 a.m. in the Legion Room, adjacent to the Lower Church to pray the Rosary and Legion prayers.  The primary focus of the Legion is evangelization and to spread devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary.

OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL SOCIETY

  1. This Society of volunteers prepares, organizes and executes the planning and implementation of the Annual Feast and Procession honoring Our Blessed Mother. It is through the ongoing efforts of many Parishioners and Friends who have for decades made this annual celebration the success that it has become.

SOCIAL ACTION MINISTRY

  1. This ministry was created to encourage Parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish to become active in the church community and to bring the Parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish closer together.  The ministry meets several times a year to discuss planned activities for the upcoming year.  The ministry sponsors an American Red Cross Blood Drive, a Flu Clinic and a fall Annual Social honoring special members of the Parish.  They also assist other Societies within the Parish.  The Society continues to expand its efforts in reaching out to this church community.

 

ST. ANN SOCIETY

  1. Women are invited to honor St. Ann, the Mother of Our Blessed Virgin Mary, through prayer and action.  Meetings occur 4 times per year, generally March, May, June and September.  The Society hosts a fundraising event in October to support the ministries of the Parish, as well as a Christmas celebration in December.
